The Before Project: Addressing Bullying in Sports around Europe and beyond

One main goal of the Before project is the creation of a comprehensive, far-reaching, inter-disciplinary ‘Anti-Bullying Education for Sports Coaches’ training and education programme. This year, the project garnered widespread attention in different academic settings.

One of the notable milestones was the participation of our colleague Brendan from the University of Limerick at the PEPAYS Ireland Conference in June. Brendan gave an insightful Oral Research Presentation titled ‘Risk & Protective Factors for Bullying in Sport.’ His contribution shed light on crucial aspects influencing bullying dynamics within sports settings.

Following this, in September, Lisa from ENSE (European Network of Sport Education) took the project to the 16th ENSE Forum in Rome, Italy. Her presentation focused on the overarching aims and objectives of the Before Project, highlighting its potential to create innovative Anti-Bullying Education strategies for Coaches.

At the prestigious World Anti-Bullying Forum held from October 25th to 27th in North Carolina, United States, the Before Project received even more attention. A poster presentation, skillfully delivered by our colleagues Li and Maria from Sweden, offered unique insights and perspectives on the project’s extensive research and collaborative efforts.
