Catherine Stapleton

Biography

Dr. Catherine Stapleton is a Lecturer at Mary Immaculate College of Education in Thurles and an Honorary Research Fellow at the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre. Dr Catherine worked on a project funded by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC). The project aims to provide guidelines for Inclusive Religious Education based on both teacher and student voice. Her doctoral study was supported by a scholarship from the Irish Research Council and captured the voices of students of minority faith and secular worldviews experiences of a Catholic school ethos. She has extensive experience in education both nationally and internationally. Her roles include lecturer, research methods tutor, thesis supervisor, aid worker and post-primary teacher. Her main research interests are in identity stereotyping and institutional/cultural bullying, Religious Education and Research Methods.
