Dr. Irene White is an Assistant Professor in DCU School of Human Development and a Research Fellow in the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre. Irene lectures in English Education, Drama Education, Advanced Teaching Strategies and Academic Writing and Reading with an extensive experience in tutoring and teaching. Irene has worked on The Crossover Project, a cross-border, cross-community participative drama and on the ‘Acting for the Future’ programme using drama and theatre performance to promote positive mental health and raise awareness of the issues of suicide and prevention with adolescents. Her research interests are in the field of drama and creative arts as a means of combating bullying in schools, also including application of drama-based techniques in non-theatre contexts, socially-engaged participatory arts organisations and non-formal education. Her recent publication was a conference contribution on “Bullies, Bullied and Bystanders: Advancing Knowledge, Understanding and Practice in Education” in 2016.
