In this keynote, Prof. Andrew Przybylski will delve into the evolving discussion around the impacts of internet-mediated technologies and artificial intelligence on young people’s mental health. He will challenge prevailing assumptions and emphasise the critical need to rethink the narrative surrounding technological harms. He will explore how past research missteps have shaped our current understanding and discuss how we can take a proactive approach to build a more accurate evidence base for future studies. Through this keynote, Prof. Przybylski will offer a roadmap for researchers, caregivers, and policymakers alike. His goal is to advocate for a collaborative, evidence-based framework that truly reflects how young people both shape and are shaped by the technologies of tomorrow.
