Project Overview

This project will research the current context of ageism and bullying in the workplace both at a national and international level. This is in terms of recruitment, training opportunities and promotional opportunities for people r 50 years of age and older in the later stages of their working life. The project aims to provide a solution-oriented approach through promoting greater awareness of legislation to prevent ageist attitudes. In addition it aims to promote policies which develop greater opportunities for intergenerational engagement between older and younger staff in a diversity of workplace contexts.

Project Goals

  1. Evaluate the current context of ageism and bullying related to older people in the workplace.
  2. Provide a solution-oriented approach through greater awareness of the legislation to prevent ageist attitudes and behaviours in the workplace.
  3. Provide a solution-oriented approach through developing policies which promote opportunities for intergenerational engagement in a diversity of workplace contexts.
  4. Promote awareness of the capabilities, talents and skills of workers regardless of age. This is to ensure that age is not a barrier to recruitment and to promotion in a variety of workplace contexts.
